Hands-on Python coding program where you'll build a new project each session! Perfect for beginners, this series will introduce key coding concepts through creative and interactive challenges. Don't let AI discourage you, learning to program is still a great skill to learn.

Get ready to shake it like an UFO amateur video. No experience needed, just bring your best moves and a willingness to embarrass yourself in front of your kids.

🕐 10:00 AM • 📍 Central Park, Burnaby
This is one of those that teach a valuable lesson and are also a good time. A volunteer park cleanup & habitat restoration event at Burnaby's Central Park. Remove invasive plants and help protect and restore Burnaby's parks. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, with tools and guidance provided.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about AI and machine learning? You should, but this is for your kid. AI is all around us, this is a great, free opportunity to get more into it.

🕐 11:00 AM • 📍 Town Centre Park, Coquitlam
A multicultural food festival celebrating dumplings from around the world. Enjoy diverse dumplings, cultural performances, and live music in a festive atmosphere. Admission is free, donations welcome.

🕐 11:00 AM • 📍 Swangard Stadium, Burnaby
Get ready to swim in a sea of bubbles and flavors. It's like Willy Wonka's factory, but for boba lovers, and no one . Bring your kids and your best bubble tea slurping skills for a day of fun. We'll be there joining the (delicious) fun, come say hi!

🕐 10:00 AM • 📍 48th Avenue (downtown Ladner), Delta
This one is a bit further than usual (I know, "far for who?", ask all the hundreds of readers from Ladner). One of the region's largest open-air street markets, with produce, artisanal foods, crafts, and live music. Free admission, rain or shine.

🕐 3:00 PM • 📍 Cambie
Stop by Cambie Library to learn about and try our Sphero Indis! These fun little cars are a great way to introduce coding and robotics to children 4+.

🕐 2:00 PM • 📍 Brighouse
Join us to learn the basics of TinkerCAD. This is a great web-based 3D modeling software for beginners. We will use basic shapes to make amazing designs. Registration required, rush!

🕐 4:00 PM • 📍 Ironwood
Drop in to the Ironwood Branch for some fun with after-school gaming! Play games like Mario Kart, Switch Sports, and Tetris with friends on our Nintendo Switch.

Wanna remember how more than 30% of Tom Cruise's face moved? Go watch the old Top Gun movie in this beloved city spot. Don't forget the blanket, the snacks, and go save your spot early!

This is a recreational reading program intended to stimulate your child's love of reading and practice their reading and pronunciation. This program is for children in Grades 1-4. Children are matched by grades.

Looking to build a farmhouse with friends or create your own massive castle? At Minecraft Club, kids can team up to explore the world of Minecraft, share their creations, and connect with other passionate, like-minded players!

Maybe you missed it last week, maybe your kid loved reading to a dog too much? This is cool practice, kids love doggies, why not?

🕐 7:00 PM • 📍 Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza
if you still haven't had a chance to watch this one, do it! Grab your blanket and prepare for a showdown between nature and technology. This is a beautiful movie, and it being outdoors makes it a unique experience.

🕐 3:00 PM • 📍 Ironwood
Summer chess is still going! Give your children a chance to practice not bouncing up and down every second and sit down without a screen, using their brain. Come learn and play. Chess boards are provided.

Another chance to try this event, this time in Steveston!

If relaxing is what you need, go take your reading break at the library while your kids go nuts on more videogames. Sometimes that's what you need.

🕐 5:30 PM • 📍 Robertson Drive Park, Surrey
An evening picnic and community gathering with games and activities for all ages. First 200 attendees get a free food item. Bring your own dinner and blanket.

🕐 6:00 PM • 📍 Science World
Who knows, maybe you wanna try some different date night. Try Science World's fun little gadgets without a random kid coming and pressing all buttons ten times in 3 seconds. Did I say you can even have a drink?

🕐 7:00 PM • 📍 Moody Park, New Westminster
Outdoor movie, performances and games. And no need to drive all the way to downtown Vancouver, good old Crazy Rich Asians starting at 8:50pm.

I know we all love events that are not overly crowded, but spread the joy, invite a fellow parent and let them find what’s out there to do in Metro Vancouver.
